What bothers TOAD is that it 'hates' to be installed into a directory whose name contains brackets. As TOAD is 32-bit application, it - as any other 32-bit application installed on 64-bit Windows - goes into 'Program Files (x86)' directory. Well, TOAD complains about it. You might even get ORA-12514 or ORA-06413, although everything was installed successfully.

Well, not really. Installer created some files in (x86) anyway, so this installation was really a garbage. The same Instant Client ZIP file occupies 463.956 KB on disk. In order to use it (the way person who wrote that article says), you have to unzip it. How many MB would that waste? Hundreds of megs, right?
